Miles Morgan joined the firm in 2003 after serving as law clerk to United States District Judge Irene M. Keeley of the Northern District of West Virginia, Clarksburg Division. His practice areas include product liability litigation; personal injury/wrongful death; federal criminal defense (N.D.W.V., S.D.W.V. and 4th Circuit Court of Appeals), energy and environment torts; commercial litigation; restrictive covenants and related contractual issues as well as construction litigation.

Some of his recent jury trials include acquittals in three federal criminal actions charging obstruction of justice, USA v. David White, 2:24-cr-00118-3 (S.D.W.V. 2025); carjacking and use of firearm in furtherance of a felony, USA v. Camri White, 2:23-cr-00168 (S.D.W.V. 2024) and felon in possession of controlled substances, USA v. Willie Clark, 1-23-cr-48 (N.D.W.V. 2023).

Other notable results include 7 and 8 figure settlements in catastrophic burn cases involving work-place negligence; dismissal of a 30-million dollar construction defect claim against major utility; reversal of a double murder conviction and award of new trial, acquittal of double murder charges at new trial carried on Court TV, and $2 million award for wrongful conviction in the defense of the infamous “Rainbow Murders,” which has been featured on 60 Minutes and numerous documentaries and books; significant settlement award in wrongful death case involving listeria outbreak; dismissal of a contract claim and award of attorney’s fees in a cable television contract dispute; a defense verdict and award of attorney’s fees in a restrictive covenant dispute; summary judgment and award of attorney’s fees in a franchise agreement dispute; and successful prosecutions and/or defenses of product liability and toxic tort cases involving underground mining equipment, industrial cranes, continuous mining equipment, underground roof bolters, heparin, pharmaceuticals, raw meat products, industrial rock drills and other products. Miles has also successfully prosecuted insurance bad faith claims and civil rights actions.
