Hendrickson & Long, PLLC Honors the Life of Jeffry Hughes Hall
It has been said that one person can touch many lives. That is certainly true of Jeffry Hughes Hall’s impressive and compassionate life. Jeffry, 71, passed away peacefully at his home on October 25th, 2025. He was a loving husband, devoted father, dedicated dog owner, and a hard-working, skilled former partner at Hendrickson & Long, PLLC. Jeff will be sorely missed by everyone close to him and by the hundreds of families he helped throughout his legal career.
Jeff was born on April 17, 1954, and spent his formative years in Charleston, West Virginia. After obtaining his law degree, Jeff first practiced law in Michigan for seven years, then brought his sharpened litigation and negotiation skills back home to West Virginia in 1990.
“I had the privilege of meeting Jeff on the asbestos circuit. It was immediately clear that he could be a valuable building block as our firm began. In the naturally adversarial world of law, Jeff stood out as universally beloved for his cordiality, wit, acumen, and effectiveness,” said Scott Long, Founding Partner and Managing Member of Hendrickson & Long, PLLC. “Our friend will be dearly missed.”
In 2016, Jeff was named “Lawyer of the Year” for Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions – Defendants in the Charleston area by Best Lawyers. It was just one of the many awards and honors Jeff achieved over his distinguished 30-year career as a practicing attorney. Of course, no award will come close to what really mattered to him. That was his marriage with his beloved Debbie, and as the proud father of his cherished daughters, Dr. Meghan Elizabeth Hall and Jessica Morgan Hall.
To know Jeff was to know his integrity for the law, his compassion for his clients, and a quick wit that endeared him to his colleagues. Those who knew Jeff will remember his kindness, humor, and genuine love of life. His presence made every room brighter, every story better, and every friendship deeper.
“Jeff was always ready yet always measured. He was rooted in family, faith, and friendship that kept us all grounded,” remembered founding partner and attorney David Hendrickson. “When you saw Jeff, you got a smile that made you want to be a better man, lawyer, and friend.”
Since his retirement from practice, Jeff could be found embracing the simple joys of spending time with Debbie and his family, along with going on the occasional trek along Charleston’s Carriage Trail with his faithful spaniels by his side. If you met Jeff, you would be treated to his warm smile and easy conversation every time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeff’s memory to Boykin Spaniel Rescue or HospiceCare WV.
On behalf of Scott, Raj, Dave, and the H&L Family past and present, our condolences go out to Jeff’s wife, Debbie, his daughters, Jessica and Meghan, and all those who will miss the warmth and kindness Jeff brought each day to so many.
